What the F13 Chassis Is

The BMW F13 designates the coupe body of the third-generation 6 Series, produced for the US market from 2012 through 2017. It arrived as the fixed-roof companion to the convertible (F12) and later the four-door Gran Coupe (F06), sharing much of its architecture with the contemporary 5 Series lineage that preceded the F10. Longer, lower and wider than the outgoing E63 coupe, the F13 leaned harder into the grand-touring role while keeping BMW's rear-biased driving character intact. All F13 cars are two-door coupes. The US lineup covered a clear hierarchy from six-cylinder comfort to full-blown M performance:

At the top, the M6 uses the S63 high-output twin-turbo V8, transforming the coupe into a serious 500-plus-horsepower machine. The N63 and S63 V8s reward diligent oil service and cooling-system care, while the N55 six is generally the simpler, more forgiving choice.
