The BMW N63 is a 4.4L twin-turbo V8 and the world's first production "hot-vee" engine, powering BMW's flagship sedans and SUVs since 2008.

The BMW N63 made history as the world's first production V8 to place its turbochargers inside the valley of the engine block—a layout BMW calls the "hot-vee." Early N63 engines earned a reputation for high oil consumption, timing chain and guide wear, and issues stemming from the heat-intensive hot-vee design, which bakes components in the valley. BMW responded with several TU (technical update) revisions that progressively improved durability, addressing valve stem seals, turbo oil feed lines, and cooling. Later N63TU and N63TU2 variants are notably more robust than the original.
